Which? is trialling a trader endorsement scheme, Which? Trusted Traders, in London and surrounding counties to assess and endorse reputable traders in the home improvement and motoring sectors. As anyone who has experienced a bodged home improvement job or pricey car repair will know, finding trustworthy local businesses isn't always easy.
Consumers Lack Confidence
Their research shows that although consumers are happy with the choice of services available, they lack confidence in selecting and worry about being ripped off. Only three in ten of those surveyed said that they expect tradespeople to act in their best interests.
Extending the Which? Endorsement
Whether it's a vehicle breakdown or a plumbing emergency, we all rely on local businesses. That's why Which? is trialling a new service that will test and promote reputable tradespeople, which is similar to awarding our familiar Best Buy icon for products. The service, Which? Trusted Traders, is launching in London and the Home Counties and will list motoring repairs and home improvement businesses that have undergone a rigorous assessment process. Tradespeople you can Trust
Using a Which? Trusted Trader takes the uncertainty out of hiring a contractor to work on your car or home. An extra benefit is that, should a dispute arise between you and a Which? Trusted Trader, Ombudsman Services will act as an independent resolution service to help you get redress.
How it works
Tradespeople and businesses must undergo and pass a rigorous assessment process to become Which? Trusted Traders. The assessment includes a credit check, a visit from an independent assessor and recent customer references.
Only when these checks are satisfied can the trader become a Which? Trusted Trader.
